Bungie on Tuesday announced Halo 3 for Xbox 360 with availability in 2007. For the three of you who haven't, go see the trailer. That means I have between 6.5 and 18.5 months of agonizing waiting before I get my next Halo fix. I'm a junkie and I can admit it. I am helplessly and hopelessly addicted to all things Master Chief.
Oh, by the way he looks awesome:
That image, and the trailer are taking from the game engine running in real-time on an Xbox 360. I've not been all that excited about the 360 so far. I managed to score one on launch weekend, but the games haven't grabbed me so far.
Anyway, I'm still overly-excitable in the wake of the announcement. I find myself reciting Cortana's dialog from the trailer and pondering the nature of the Ark. My experience with the wait leading up to Halo and Halo 2 reminds me that this will get worse before it gets better (and then worse again as the actual release approaches).
I've cured myself of most fanatical devotion to tech issues. Though I still love Macs, I don't see them as the only viable platform. I don't really care which console "wins" each generation. Yet when I heard the first notes on the piano in that darn trailer, my eyes teared up.
Hello, my name is Mike and I'm a Halo fanboy.
